The youth garden is a UBC Directed Studies project that was carried out by James Simon, with support from three UBC organizations: the First Nations House of Learning, Community Learning Initiative, and Global Resource System. The garden – completed on July 1, 2013 – is located beside the Musqueam Community Centre. Participants in the Math & Science Club and Reading Club use this space to learn about nutritional health and environmental science via gardening activities, which include making snacks from their harvests (such as kale chips!), as well as planting indigenous and non-indigenous plants.
